Just testing two very different guitars: My Larrivé OM-03RE and a friend´s Martin D-28. Bad quality video (and playing, hehehe) but good sound (recorded to my laptop with an AKG C1000S).

  • Hehehehe, now I re-discovered another Martin I have, a D-16. Mahogany back and sides. I´ll uplodad a new video.

Thx all for the comments! :)

  • The Larrivée is an OM-03RE model (smaller than L body).

The AKG it´s connected to my Sony´s Vaio mic input, so it´s not a good quality preamp.

    And camera don´t remenber, hahaha...

  • What can I say; I play a Larrivee and this comparison reaffirms my choice (so I am a bit insecure). Had I started to feel uneasy.., but I didn't! I love my LV-03RE!

  • Two different body styles are being compared here, but overall Larrivee tends to have a "tighter" and "mellow" sound compared to Martin. Martin has "twingy" (my word) highs but great clarity. Martins also generally have more "punch." I've heard arguments back and forth about who makes the better all around guitar (Martin/Taylor/Larrivee) but IMHO it all comes down to your style and song choice.

  • Without question the Larrivee comes out on top of this comparison.

  • @olihp3 Absolutely! I actually preferred the MArtin smooth tone. I guess it's all in the listening as that's why they make a bazillion differetn models and makes.

  • That Martin sounds smoother, the Larrivee sounds sharper. Both are good!

  • the way a Larrivee sounds it has to be compared with a Martin or a Taylor of a higher price rank. For some reason if you play a $400 Larrivee it sounds like you are playing a $1000 Martin or Gibson

  • Im sorry...but the Larrivee wins this competition hands down. Only a deaf person could think otherwise. The depth of tone and clarity in the Larrivee blows that Martin Dred away! I love the sound of that Larrivee!

  • cannot believe how that larivee stood up to that martin.... cool...
