Most certainly one of the finest versions of "La fleur que tu m'avais jetée" by Georges Bizet we have
recorded 1912 on Victor 85122 (Matrix number C 4249-3)
Charles Dalmorès (1871-1939) had a rather short operatic career. Most of his reputation rests on the handfull of recordings he made around this time.

Bien émis, une diction impeccable quand on songe à la technique d'enregistrement de l'époque! Merci bien!

What a handsome and magnetic demeanor and a voice with such a
velvety timbre. A fine instrument to
sing one of the most passionate
love arias ever written. A passionate
plea indeed.

Splendid rendition by this supremely classy spinto/dramatic French tenor who enoyed an exemplary career in Europe and later, in the US, creating many contemporary works to great acclaim. He created several Wagnerian roles in Brussels (premières in French) and became one of the most beloved soloists of his time, appearing with stars such as Litvinne and Albers. His voice was reputed to be perfect: this recording seems to confirm such a reputation (I dream of hearing such a voice today!)
