Wayward is a browser-based, turn-based, graphical roguelike currently in alpha. It is currently supported and will work in the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari. In the game, there is a large focus on realism and survival. Because of these elements, most weapons, and items will need to be crafted by natural objects found around the terrain. Unlike traditional roguelikes, in Wayward there are no levels; however, you can gain different skills which increase your effectiveness for each of the individual skills.

  • What is with the lack of help or information about HOW TO PLAY? Yes I can dig a piece or ground but what the hell else can I do? How do I plant a mushroom? It won't let me place it anywhere.. if you want people to play your game at least have some fucking hints otherwise you will never be very successful.

  • @musevstool The lack of information comes from the idea that this is very much an alpha project. I do not plan on writing documentation, and then re-writing it with every change. I understand that many players need more information when playing though. I will look into a tutorial system and/or documentation for 1.2. Until then, the best I can do is the RogueBasin entry (linked at the top of messages in game) which you undoubtedly already seen.

  • Your game is great so far. I enjoyed discovering and constructing new items, though it was frustrating not knowing what was potentially useful in this build and what was a dead end. Also are some creatures higher level than other creatures? I always get killed when some damn bear or red slime consistently hits for 10 instead of, like, 2.

  • @IJustNeedANameDamnit There is some monster scaling in the current version unfortunately. This is just a temporary thing and has already been removed based on player feedback, like yours :). Thanks for playing.

  • dude i max out at 4300. are the gravel tiles at all useful? also, i think the game is teasing me to build a fire so i can make iron stuff, but i never get that far. i always starve to death. WHY CANT I EAT WHAT I KILL!?!?!

  • @TheJoshmyer I think there's a lot of items that "tease" you currently. This is just because it's just an alpha, all of the items don't exist yet :) Hint: You can carve corpses with a sharp rock to get tasty meat.

  • Just discovered this while looking for a roguelike to play. I'm loving it so far and will be following it closely from now on. Can't wait to see more of it done!

  • like your game cant wait for beta .

  • @Drathy hey could you add building with rocks and wood for houses and sleeping? i also have a lot of ideas.

  • @Drathy Sorry about my angry post yesterday. I then got my partner to try it too, and had another go myself. Managed to make some rope, and found some gold and a ring in the black blocks. Will be interested to try it again when there has been some more updates, I like the way the skills are done, thanks for your response :)
