Just cause you're a gun nut does not make you a patriot. It means you have a fetish for violence.

There are hundreds of millions of firearms in the U.S. alone, whether you're pro gun or not, it is irresponsible as parents and a society as a whole if DO NOT teach every child about gun safety! Millions of Americans for generations have been "exposed to guns" (as you say) with no ill affects and they have NEVER harmed anyone. The mere fact that parents teach their kids about guns and how to use them is not a crime and should not be demonized in our culture!

They support irresponsible gun handling because of the Eddie Eagle Program? How about, why are children that age being exposed to guns? Why dont adults learn to keep their firearms in a secure place out of the reach of children? It shouldnt be that hard.It seems to me a truly responsible adult shouldnt have that problem.Does the NRA do anything about that kind of "irresponsible gun handling"?Or just want more pople to have guns?..Just because one is doing something EXPECTED doesn't mean their good.

@ Alyten, I'm sorry but the government is taking over our lives...look around and see everywhere that the gov has it's tenticals!

Just because the government burned and killed all those people at Waco doesn't mean that we should just throw up our hands and say, "We don't stand a chance against a tyrannical government...I give up"! That is ridiculous. You might as well say you don't believe in liberty, because you are obviously NOT willing to fight for it!

I for one fully support the NRA and what they stand for, ie...the right for all law abiding citizens to own and use firearms responsibly. Gun owners across this country do not support irresponsible gun handling, as a matter of fact, the NRA created the Eddie Eagle childrens gun safety program. The problem is when these types of programs are vilified simply because they discuss firearms! We teach our kids about other dangers...why not gun safety? There are millions of legal guns out there.

He scares me too, and I am a competitive handgun shooter. I had to go through a background check and have a license to carry a concealed weapon, so I jumped thru all the legal hoops and I DIDNT DIE! How shocking that a horrible background check that so many Republicans are so freakin afraid of didnt kill me or even slow me down on my way to the range!

The big difference between what happened and the other common accidents that you describe is the outcome. Accidental stabbing or cuts or even poisoning or tazing, are very serious but RECOVERABLE injuries. Gunshot to the head usually ends in death, and death usually happens very very quickly. If the victim of the shooting does survive, life will never, ever be the same. An instant of poor parenting has resulted in the needless death of a child. A senseless tragedy.
