The Isle of Skye, an island situated off the West coast of Mainland Scotland, is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides and a must-see for any tourist visiting the West Highlands of Scotland, UK.
Poetically referred to as Eilean a' Cheò (The Misty Isle).
A speedboat passes under the Skye Bridge that replaced the ferry, from Kyle of Lochalsh, a few years ago. It sails past the lighthouse on the island of Eilean Bàn ('White Island'), home to the Eilean Bàn Trust & Bright Water Visitor Centre that was previously the home of the author Gavin Maxwell who wrote the book, Ring of Bright Water. This was the story of his life with otters. A statue to Teko the Otter, by the sculptor Laurence Broderick stands beside Kyleakin Harbour.
The glass bottomed boat, the Atlantis, leaves the Pier at Kyleakin with the ruin of Castle Moil in the background. Castle Moil was supposedly the home of a Norwegian princess, known as Saucy Mary, who demanded payment from passing ships.
A view from the Viewpoint at the highest part of Kyle of Lochalsh gives a magnificent panorama of the Skye Bridge.

  • Do you know how sick of that song we are here on the Isle of Skye!

  • LOL, I can imagine. My original edit had the music ending with a 'scratchy record' sound but it confused a friend of mine and I changed it. Never listen to yer friends -- follow your heart.

  • Ohhh, I was just getting into the Skye Boat Song when you pulled it. Please make a video that lasts the length of the song. Thank you in anticipation.

  • isle of skye, my second home place

  • portree i stay

  • The most beautiful place on earth. Always love visiting my second home

  • To quote just one critic: "One of Europe's most dramatic and haunting lands, words can do little justice in describing the awesome beauty of the Isle of Skye. The majestic Cuillin Mountains dominate the rugged landscape, which is peppered with lochs, glens and tiny fishing villages." Oh dear, BigChappy, sounds like you spent 3 years with your eyes shut.

  • @bigchappy1970 Telling us of your reaction to living on the Isle of Skye in the words and in the manner you chose, BigChappy, tells us far more about you than it does about the Isle of Skye.

  • I lived in that shitehole for three long years. It is one of the most depressing places ever. Speed Bonny boat away from it

  • Especially when Roger Whittaker whistles and Des O'Connor tries to sing!
