  • whats the difference between xmp3i and xpm3?

  • @interfan63

Great question. The XMP3 was a Pioneer brand portable XM radio, the XMP3I is the same radio under the Audiovox brand. There is no difference in the radio itself. Same specs, same recording capabilities, same everything.

The new model is compatible with the "PowerConnect" system for connecting to a radio through the FM modulator.

The new model also costs less than the old one did.

New model is in stock and waiting for you as I write this.

  • does it auto record when the radio is off?

  • @interfan63

Yes, indeed it does. If you have set a timer based recording, it will turn itslf on and record for you.

Sure would make a great stocking stuffer!

  • @interfan63 if you need/want the "power connect" feature then yes the xmp3i is the one for you.

The other feature I thought would help also is the USB charging added to the XMP3i--- BUT--- it charges in "PC mode" which means you can't listen to it while its USB charging, which turned me off.

***Update**** the newest firmware update helped the "SLOW MP3" issues alot (not perfect but much better)

  • @micka417 which one was better for you xmp3i or xmp3?did it worth $100 difference?

  • When this works it is really feature loaded, very undependable though (I've had three replaced under vendors extended warranty)

Please if you want to also play MP3's buy an Ipod instead.

This unit will recognize & play MP3's but it pauses 20-30 seconds between any fast fwd, rewind, skip to another song. ALL 3 of my XMP3 EVEN my newest the "XMP3-i " (current version) will not play MP3's without pausing 30 seconds between picking a song and playing it. if you don't believe me-KEEP YOUR RECEIPT

For XM or Sirius programming info, you can find complete programming guides on both of their websites. (sorry, can't link you to them in these comments).

Also, satellite radio is not available in Afghanistan.

    Hope that helps,
