About to get a female baby LC Amazon and I would love to know how your cutie is as a pet. Is she aggressive to other family members? Does she demand a lot of attention are is she happy to play on her own in or on her cage? Thanks, Lynne

@MingTheMerciful Ruffled neck feathers (I like to call this a "Neck Poof") are a sign of excitation. Typically it is a sign that your bird is happy but I have had my Amazon ruffle his feathers and then hiss at me. Each bird is different but in my book ruffled feathers are not usually a bad thing.

@Pretolux All of this breed do that with their eyes when they are stimulated or excited. It's quite normal. Ours does it I whistle to her.
-
@Dagubatsu Ah, thanks for clarification. Honestly, I probaby didnt know much about parrots a year ago. My birdy tends to do it under bright light, so I assumed she wasnt the only one. :)

@Pretolux: What you say is inaccurate. "the light is to bright for her and shes deluted. Look at her pupils" ...pupil dilation/contraction is a very common thing among parrots, I notice my parrots doing that especially when they're excited or talking or imitating funny sounds. It's all about understanding your parrot's body language. =) Cheers.

My amazon has always done that with her eyes too. Whether its us talking to her or when she talks to us, her pupils do that. Ours looks identical to yours. Beautiful!!

Yeah! I also have a lilac crowned amazon, and the fluffy neck feathers, and spread-out tail is always a good thing. Along with the constricted pupils, as well -- usually when he really hears something he likes.

I give it 5 stars
Shes not showing off... the light is to bright for her and shes deluted. Look at her pupils. She probably sees out off focus when you have the light on...
Anyways, your lilac crown amazon looks very healthy. She looks amazing.

The video was made under room light, no external light was used. Her pupils have always done that when she talks. I have had her for over 18 years.
