Introduction
The landscape does not exist out there. Out there, what lies is Nature. It is only our presence what transforms Nature into landscape. It is only our eye what creates the landscape. Therefore, if we do not exist, there will be no landscape, there will be only Nature. Thus, one day, the world that will no longer be will be criss-crossed with corpses of signs, and deer will roam around in the leafy avenues, and in the busted sewers wolfs will dwell. And our signs will be no more. Meanwhile however, what do we have? We have got a man who is pissed off because he is cold and sweats. We have got an indifferent environment that follows its course unmoved. We have got a haughty man that cannot stand that what surrounds him is not there for him. We are frightened and we are angry.

Explanation
Artefact brings up a reflection on the dramatic essence of the connection between the cultural creation ephemeral, fleeting, fragile and the action of nature infinite, perennial, omnipresent; between the vulnerable and futile quality of the human condition and the ubiquity of nature taken as a whole.

The dramaturgy of Artefact is articulated on a series of actions based on the manipulation of objects and stage elements. These actions, carried out by two performers, are captured by a camera, real-time transformed by video effects, and projected in big format on the walls of the stage space. In Artefact, the usual division between stage and stalls vanishes to give rise to a hybrid space, halfway between the art installation and the chill out, where the performers, the technical staff and the audience are set. The audience, laying down on the floor, sitting on chairs, and on cushions, witness the actions carried out by the performers and, at the same time, watch the enlarged projection of such actions in the theatre walls. This way they are participant of a double narrativity: that of the stage actions and that of their film transcription, which transforms these plastically; two dramaturgic levels that are superimposed to articulate an aesthetic performance of powerful conceptual content and intense poetic force.

Contra.Natura

In parallel with and in addition to Artefact, Agrupacion Señor Serrano has developed Contra.Natura; a stage project that, like the former, reflects on the connections between human being and nature. Thus, Contra.Natura falls within the same frame of dramaturgic investigation and conceptual research to that of Artefact. However, whereas the latter is presented as a performance set within a space shared by performers, technicians, and audience, or even as an art installation with performative elements, Contra.Natura is really a theatre play, with a solid base on the language of physical and visual theatre, and about an hour long.
