I watch this video because I hear the title of this song in one 2HM´s episode

Not sure if anyone's said this yet but according to legend this was a message song to Stiff record stablemate Ian Dury who Elvis thought took some of his good songs and lyrics and thrashed them a bit to fit a loud, fast, punk format. 'When you don't really need it...'

@thinchris It's amazing Elvis Costello didn't sue the sh*t out of those one-hit wonders, Escape Club, for ripping-off this tune for their only hit.
-
...and then U2 ripped this off with get on your boots ahh the circle of stealing artists songs is complete. too bad originality counts for zilch these days tune into mainstream radios and you will see :/ even hating mainstream for not being original is itself not original ARRRR

@filmboy8 It's not live. It's a TOTP re-recording. To comply with Musician's Union regs, TOTP would get some artists to recreate their records in a BBC studio, so there were sometimes subtle differences in record versus TOTP, even though the TOTP performances were still mimed. The Beeb could save needle time that way.

Pre Dating New Wave, During Punk, but refreshingly in his own sub genre of awesomeness. This is off his second album, he had already released his badass debut a year earlier. A true pioneer of what became new wave and later 80's alternative.

@morikanti Thats true but they both ripped off Bob Dylan (lol lol lol). I think you know what song Im talking about lol lol lol.
-
Nice to see the TOTP wide awake for a change!

This came out when disco was at it's peak!! A Taste Of Honey beat him out of a Grammy....Elvis rocks!!!

@thinchris What part of 1978 didn't you get...

Well, the attitude was 'punk', as was for example, Blondie. The music itself was just a blend of many genres.
