"Almost like holding a girl".....Love that comment!
A fine guitarist and a nice guy. I'd love to meet him. I lost a guitar in a flood also (not thirty though). And he's right. It was a Gibson acoustic, my first quality guitar that my parents bought me as a gift when they realized I was serious about playing. It was caught in the Agnes disaster in central Pennsylvania in 1972 and was completely destroyed. It hurt a lot. Not anything like loosing a loved one, but it hurts all the same.
duane is an altogether nice unassuming gent, recently at glastonbury someone asked what band he played in and what instrument he used. i saw him in 1963 over here in liverpool and again in the eighties when he toured with the everly brothers.
he is the only musician i have seen who sounds the same live as on record. his playing as backing on other releases is easily recognised, the charity released "matchbox" with carl perkins and the mavericks have superb solos by him.
A real gentleman and looking good for his years. Long may he keep playing. Hope to see him when he plays Glastonbury next week ,cannot wait to dance with the guitar man -last time I saw him was in the early 60s .
Doyle Dykes is a wonderful guitarist but Duane has a " je sais quoi" that gives some deep feelings inside your guts and I always get goose pimples when I listen to Duane.....Thanks Mr Duane Eddy . Thank you very much

I always though Duane Eddy used a baritone guitar. The deep notes on the early 60s tracks were surely not played on a standard Gretsch?
