Kaigal-ool Khovalyg of Huun-Huur-Tu, my main throat-singing mentor, performs this textless version of the Tuvan classic accompanying himself on igil. His signature khoomei style pulses and shimmers like the Northern Lights.

  • You're probably right about YouTube's strange compression effect. There's video of Keith Jarrett's solo encore recorded in Tokyo in 1984 which sounds great but his finger movements don't match the music that's coming out. Kaigal-ool and Sayan Bapa (of Huun Huur Tu) are magnificent characters with a strong shamanic aura. Met them twice at the Rainforest World Music Festivalin Sarawak. Sweet guys, very approachable!

  • ooooooooohoooooooooowooooooooh

  • wow beautiful hes doing both borbang nadyr and ezengileer on his styles in this song wow sounds so amazing and powerful i love both those styles so much , borbang nadyr or rolling voice is one of them and ezengileer has rhythmic pulses as you can see the difference in them if you listen closely most of it is borbang though:)

  • Beautiful... Pity about the sound quality.

  • igil & morin khuur are cool

  • i think i'd like to build a igil. this expression is wonderfully enchanting and compels me to a profound vibration.

  • Steve Sklar, I presume.

    Greetings form Poland :-)
