oh bret... you are fabulous

How long could glam last? It was popular for 8 years!(83-91) What other scene/genre lasted that long?
-
@nate11star Personally I like Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction's much more than Seattle bands. If there were more bands like them in the 90s, it wouldn't have been so bad. Still I think you are exaggerating the hate for glam metal. All that mattered was important people didn't want it. 80s Metal enemy number 1 Tipper Gore entered became the 2nd lady around the time classic metal died and was all but driven underground. I have a hard time thinking it was just a coincidence.

@TapesnCartridges Grunge brought attitude and real love for making music (not just pose and girls), that's why destroyed the sick-to-death metal scene of late 80s. I was there and the feeling was fresh air (RHCP and JA were paving the way before Nirvana). We grow tired of seeing shit bands with 2 chords and making lots of money while we were poor and without a chance.
-
@jinglekeys43 Music companies killed glam because the trend was towards depressing suburbia and empowering inner-city "downtrodden" in typical marxist fashion. There was no mass outcry against glam metal - it just stopped getting airplay. This media phenomenon carried over to movies, TV, and all other forms of media. Music companies are just arms of the same companies that make movies and television.
-
@nate11star Well rap and stupid boy bands like New Kids had already started to take over mainstream and MTV for about 4 years. Grunge was just a reflection of how depressing and bleak rock's future was. It should have just stayed as an underground whiny version of punk music in Seattle.

4:02 evidently the thrash/glam "war" was pretty one-sided. Glam guys had enough class to recognize other genres had merit.

CC has the Slash look here. Did he ever wear that top hat on stage?
-
Holy shit someones on crackk (; nervous much ?

@TiipX im trying to call u a dumass cuz nirvana had nothing to do with glam metal they destroyed it and poison was the best when it came to glam metal
-
@mariofan551 Uhm... that doesn't make any sense.. O__O
-
@AmberDeville They made it a fucking joke. They took everything that was good about glam metal and posed the hell out of it. With a little help from MTV ofc.
-
TipX nirvana killed glam and although there songs are good I don't like nirvana or respect them for destroying my favourite sub-genre of metal.
-
@TiipX dude u have no taste in glam metal u probably think that nirvana created glam metal
-
C.C.'s such a cutie!

@TiipX WTF is wrong with you??? POISON WAS PROBABLY THE BIGGST GLAM BAND AROUND IN THE 80's!!! They helped freakin make glam! They took Glam to a whole new level! U should actually get to know the band b4 u go and start trashing on them! D:-
-
@TiipX How the hell did they kill Glam Metal when there Glam Metal themselves? Poison killed nothing!
-
