The problem is that the advert is too brilliant for too many of its audience. Whoever takes this as a straight piece of jingoism is imperceptive as a dullard. What makes the advert hilariously funny is that a relatively mild piece of criticism from poor Sebastian provokes "Ray" to stand on the cliffs of Dover, threatening to take the world on in his purple boxing shorts, with three Harrier jump jets hovering in the background. Unless Sebastian was a pork pie Ray is likely to lose any fight.

a clever cut a 0.48 classic edit point of putting a truck in the background, the post ironic jingoism made sense in the brit-pop era, true nationalism was thought to be dead and burried. alas.
