Yes standard exhaust and orginal old engine never rebuilt.

No, it wasn't.First, there were very few five speeds around in '69 and the few that were would likely be part of a trans-axle assembly- as in a mid-engine, exotic, European car. The closest to a domestic, "five speed", then would be a three speed with overdrive in the upper two gears, certainly not soemething afactory built, V8 AMX would have been equipped with. The closest to that happening would be the one documented six cylinder '68 AMX. Don't recall if it was auto or manual...

what i find funny it the AMC 290 V8 turned 225hp n 300tq at the flywheel and the 350TBI only turned 210hp n 300tq at the flywheel. . .

anything a 350 chevy can do so can a 290 AMC. . .

EFI SBC getting match for Torque by a 290AMC carbed engine ! with 15 extra horse power. . .

So a 350 in an S-10 can be matched by a 290 in an MJ . . .

My Dad Is 57 and he has a 69 amc amx with a 390 v-8 and all stock other than the radio and he also has a 69 amc javalien and its sooooo cool same as the other one but its viper red with white pin stripes and he aslo has a bsa firebird motocylcle he has lots of cars and stuff like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was a kid,the few I saw had the boulevaurde rumble.Makes comments one hears or reads,about how "they" took the stock exhaust out and put something else in,sound like a ridiculous waste of time.
