Remember that it is a rhapsodic so everyone is given a bit of license to play it according to their taste.Debussy would be the first to tell any clarinetist to 1. perform it the piece in a loose serendipitous way (it's not a bach chorale or the Mozart. 2. Debussy would want one to perform it in the contemporary style fo the present day, not his day. It's good and evolving.
