This is typical bureaucratic short-sightedness. If they can't see the profit immediately, they want to cut funding. Of course, had that logic been followed, we wouldn't have such oddities as fiber optic cables, the internet, super strong permanent magnets, and hundreds of other inventions.

@LaCerca Dude, the definition of a corporation is the government protection and legitimization of a private for-profit effort. Limited liability is an incredibly valuable benefit that governments have been bestowing on private efforts for CENTURIES. If some private greedhead wants to corner the cucumber market, I say fine unless it harms the country, in which case fuck him. But why should my tax dollars go to protect some selfish prick's private venture? Please explain.
