Hole In The Sky - Remembering 9/11

Remembering the day, Tuesday 9/11/01.

I've used a song written & performed by my friend Robert Medici. He wrote it shortly after the events of 9/11.

The song has always resonated with me.
The image of a "hole in the sky."
Something familiar stood in that space.
And now it is gone.
And when it left, it took with it thousands of lives.

A hole is a void.
An emptiness.
The "hole in the sky" is a hole in the collective hearts of all of us.

On this anniversary we will remember with love and sorrow those who were lost in this tragedy. And I hope we can honor their memories by never ceasing to try and make the world a better, safer place for all mankind.

Finally, a tribute song we can be proud of. Hole in the Sky actually articulates the depth and complexity of the event, the perpetrators, the henchmen and the victims. It struck me while watching this that Americans may not be aware of the crimes committed by their leaders, and that we are not immune from retribution. There may be more holes in our sky...or much worse. If we don't hold our elected officials accountable, we have no one to blame but ourselves if the chickens come home to roost.
