Her birthday went smoothly. She managed not to break anything as she stumbled around. I had stopped taking pictures of Nicole and switched over to videos. I had recorded everything from her first steps to her first Christmas.
Demi was getting nervous as her wedding day grew closer.
"Demi, please dont get cold feet," I warned, "he loves you."
"I know," she trembled as she tried on her wedding dress, "I cant believe this is real."
Only two more days she kept repeating. The dress fit her perfectly but she kept tugging on parts.
"Dems, you look great," I assured her.
"You sure?" she asked.
"Yes, now relax," I told her.
The night before her wedding day Demi called me hyperventilating. I was able to calm her down but I kind of felt bad for Joe because she was probably driving him insane.
We woke up early and prepared for Demi's big day. I dressed Nicole in a white satin gown and I dressed in my silk blue dress. Demi had asked me to be a brides maid but I declined the offer due to my little rugrat. She really wouldn't listen to anyone but me, Demi, or Joe.
The bridal march began and everyone turned to the church doors. Demi looked radiant as she walked down the aisle, her father by her side. The church remained silent as the priest spoke and they said their vows. Then they shared their first kiss as a married couple. Everyone rose to their feet and applauded as Demi and Joe walked down the aisle. Suddenly Nicky ran down the aisle after Joe and Demi. I squeezed in between the guest that were emptying out of the church trying to catch up with her. I finally found her in Joes arms and I froze right before I could reach them.
"Damn Joe, you've made me an uncle?!" Nick asked.
"No," Joe laughed, "shes my god-daughter."
"Mommy!" yelled Nicky as she stretched her arms towards me.
Nick looked over his shoulder and froze. He turned pale and his eyes narrowed. I couldnt move, I stood there breathless.
"Nick," Joe began, "that's Selena, Nicole's mom."
I was finally able to hurry to Nicky and grab her out of Joe's arms. Nick looked at me then stared deeply into Nicky's eyes. I knew he could see himself in her face. She looked too much like him. He moved his hand to her hair and wrapped a curl around his finger. Nicky began to cry instantly. I pulled her away causing Nick to snap out of his trance. I said goodbye to Joe and Demi and walked down the church steps. As I reached the bottom of the steps, I heard Nick call out for me. I acted like I didn't hear him and kept walking. Then I felt his arm wrap around me waist. Nicky looked at me with fear in her eyes. I turned around to see Nick's eyes piercing into mine.
"What do you want?" I asked, my voice shaking.
"You lied to me," he quietly said.
"She isn't yours Nick!" I lied.
"How can you say that, she looks just like me and you named her Nicole," he responded.
"Leave us alone Nick," I cried, "its for the best."
"Best for who?!" he exclaimed.
Nicky wrapped both her arms around my neck, "You're scaring her. Nick its best if you just leave things the way they are. She's not going to understand any of this."
"Sel, shes my daughter," he whispered, tears forming in his eyes.
At that moment Miley came from nowhere and kissed him, "I was looking all over for you."
Surprise, surprise, she was pregnant.
"Like I said, it's for the best," I sighed.
