This video shows the 180top in nightshot with extra infrared light. It was shot during the week of 09/07/08 - 09/14/08. My main goal was to see for myself, where the girl in the window used to be.
I went on this thing in 1988 and again in 1998. I was always dissapointed in spaceship earth, both times. The seat was uncomfortable, and it seemed to just be a giant commercial for telephone companies. Now I realize it was a dump!
3:10 so THAT'S why I coulldn't see the little Spaceship Earth figure! I remember in 2007 I asked about the wand being gone and I was told they were just removing the wand. Then I discovered Project Tomorrow before the ride reopened. I started to discover the future Siemens is working to create and liked the new ride when it opened (and had a 20-minute line) but now I miss the old one. And to think that my whole Disney craze and care about changing attractions came from Space Mountain's refurb...
The thing I have always been looking for near the end of Spaceship Earth after refurbishment is the little model of Spaceship Earth. Another thing I remember and miss is the two kids playing a video game they can keep changing the environment on. I also notice ugly black curtains at the beginning and end of the ride. I really miss when the wand was there. I still look for the wand to find Spaceship Earth approaching Epcot, and I remember how upset I was in 2007 when I saw it was gone.
Thanks for this video. It's interesting to see the ending of the ride with the nightshot. I actually hate the ending to Spaceship Earth because it always seems like I'm plummeting sharply backward into total darkness. It actually spoils the whole ride for me. It's like they built half a ride and then stopped. They really should do something more interesting while they're bringing you down.
@lordbemylight The ride hasn't met its goal yet. There is more planned, it's a matter if they go thru with it or when they will get to it. I am assuming it wouldn't be done until its been at least five years since the opening. In this video I have noticed inactivated effects and unrevealed scenery. If you look back after the curtains you can see behind one of the curtains.

I do believe that is Dame Judi Dench on the narration there. She's pretty alright, but I miss the Walter Cronkite version.

This ending seriously lacks the original one. What were they thinking? And c'mon! Do we need a black curtain? Why couldn't they keep the props?
