  • yes you can. Neither child hears anything without their cochlear implants-profoundly deaf. When they wake up and put on their "ears" they can hear. When they remove them, silence.

  • I'm not sure if anyone actually thinks cochlear implants totally correct hearing loss here. I am the mom and I was talking to my child, yes, to get a language sample to show some University students who will be working with kids with hearing loss. He was nor is, mad.

  • why? and hispanics probably think they should learn spanish too but since there is no need right now, they have no interest

  • Do they still have to read lips?

  • I watched a programme last night on the TV about a handfull of deaf teens and what they do and ona of them got a cochlear implant and it really helped. I wish ur family all the best :)

  • I don't like cochlear implants because it's pretty much brain surgery. If you're born deaf then you don't feel the loss of not being able to hear. I can understand it for people who have gone deaf. I'm not trying to step on people's toes. It's just how I feel.

  • @SpiceTeleVision They are 111000% deaf (as I and all over cochlear implant users are). We can only hear with the device turned on.

  • i like ac dc too!!

  • "you sound like youre from alabama" lol. awesome mom :)

  • That is fantastic for him to hear and speak very well ,I was born deaf both ears and am using 2 hearing aids also i can hear and heavily rely on lip reading ,I went to mixed hearing and deaf school .I know what is deaf culture about but i dont want to be part off it.They have lots of negative vibes all time , i did against cochlear implant i put my hand up lol and at the moment i have lost my both hearing yeah gone :( ,so i couldnt cope without sound ,is doing my head in ha ,

  • I had a deaf friend and when i signed to him I would always say the sentence out loud to so he could read my lips just to make things a bit easier. When I didnt sign to him I would just speak very clearly and he would sign back his response.
