Gurston down is a well known hillclimb made famous by "A Race Car is born" video.
This was my effort in my Westfield with a 6 speed sequential gearbox and only 193bhp Vauxhall XE engine.
Managed a 35.63 seconds on this run which gave me 3rd in class - not bad on my 2nd ever effort at this track.

Thanks for the comments, and yes you are right, the gearing is a bit long.

un-beknown to me, the gearbox was geared for 160 mph, something i will never achieve with these aerodynamics LOL.

I've now geared it down to 130mph so hopefully 2010 will bring some faster times.

    Cheers for the advice.

  • I agree xraycortina but this is only 1 of around 20 different tracks I drove on so it is always a compromise.

Paddle shift and 13" wheels are planned for this year so it will gear it down slightly and have quicker changes, just have to see how it goes :-)

  • Good driving. However (although indeed I don't know the car OR the track....) maybe if you had a shorter differential, you could use all six gears. You might be flat out in top for a few seconds at the end, but this gear set up seems a bit long. What do you think?
