This slide show was made by my nephew Chase and his dad. This was for an English project for school. Chase chose a topic that is straight from his heart....RSV Awareness. As many of you know, our baby son Gregory was hospitalized Feb. and March 2010 with RSV and we almost lost him. By the grace of God and his angels here on earth (The Medical Staff of Medical City (Dallas) and Childrens Medical Center (Dallas)) we got to keep our baby and he was healed. What I found so hard to believe was the number of children that were in PICU at these hospitals at the same time Greg was. Some didnt even make it. We were one of the lucky ones. But one thing we all had in common was none of us had ever heard of RSV till it affected us. We hear in the media all the time about Swine Flu, Bird Flu, West Nile, etc... But I have never heard them talk about RSV and it affects more children than any of those others. Im so proud of my nephew for choosing this project topic. I hope it will help make people aware of how dangerous this virus is and how your perfectly healthy baby can be on life support in less that 24 hours because of RSV. If there is one thing I want people and parents to take away from this, its...Its always better to over react and take your child to the doctor than to not react fast enough in hopes that they will get better on their own.
My daughter passed away from RSV. Very quick and scary virus. Hits fast and took my baby away from me. She was about to be six months. I never knew about this till it was to late.

This is a great video! Our son was a preemie so we have lived in fear of RSV for 2 years now. They make the preemie community aware but the general public has no idea. Most important to know is to not take your kids out if they are sick, help the was their hands frequently, and cover their cough with their elbow, RSV can look like a common cold one child but can be deadly to another. It's a common courtesy that most in our culture don't even consider.

I will never forget my son in the hospital and almost losing him to RSV. The first year was really hard for him after that with frequent bronchiolitis episodes. He's now on nebs every time he gets sick. You're right, more awareness needs to be made and more docs need to take it seriously whether a child is a preemie or not. My son was full term but he acquired it at 6 weeks and almost DIED because of too many assumptions for his age. I'm grateful and blessed he made it.

this is so sad,my son contracted rsv at 3 weeks old. it was the worst 4 weeks of my life. looks like your little guy was a trooper about all the tubes, they had to keep mine sedated the whole time cuz he kept trying to pull them out.
