Hi, Im Phil Bowermaster, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager for Sybase IQ. Today I would like to talk to you about Sybase IQ 15 for reporting services. In todays business climate reporting is really on the rise. Companies create reports to meet a wide range of business needs, all to provide a better understanding and act upon changing business events and conditions. So you will find organizations producing large numbers of standard reports, sometimes up to thousands of reports a day, plus performance dashboards, key performance indicators and ad hoc queries generated by a growing community of users. Its been said that reporting has been democratized, meaning its no longer the domain of just the executive suite. Whether you look at the financial services industry, health care, telecommunications, government services or just about any industry or market sector, you see the same thing, individual decision makers throughout the organization delivering results thanks to information provided to them via reporting. And, even as the number of user reporting environments is growing, the quantity and complexity of these reports is increasing and the total amount of information from which these reports are drawn is growing even faster. In fact, in many cases, the data volume is growing exponentially. Meanwhile, the only thing that is getting smaller is the amount of time available to get these reports into the hands of the decision makers. These challenges to reporting performance represent the three significant risks to the business. First off, many of these organizations are facing slower reporting performance due to the sheer volume and complexity of the queries that are required if we are going to give the decision makers the information they need. Slower performance raises the possibility of the second risk, which is, missed reporting windows. Missing reporting windows puts the organization in danger of falling into regulatory noncompliance for failing to meet service level agreements established with the customer. Clearly, few businesses can afford to flirt with those kinds of problems, which are why these organizations find themselves inevitably facing the third risk, higher costs, as they throw additional compute cycles, additional storage and greatly increase staff hours in the reporting environment, hoping to get performance back to the level that the business needs it to be. Unfortunately, in many of these cases, the problem isnt that the reporting environments needs additional tweaking, the problem is that the reporting function lies embedded in a transactional database or an enterprise data warehouse that is already being pushed to the limit. These organizations need something else, a solution designed specifically for analytics, one that dramatically increases query performance while making the most efficient use of available resources. These organizations need Sybase IQ 15. With its column based architecture and patented data indexing and compression technology, Sybase IQ is already the worlds leading column based analytics server. Now Sybase IQ 15 provides astoundingly fast reporting performance without placing an undue burden on existing hardware or staff resources. Sybase IQ 15 enables a reporting environment that is economical, manageable and secure. Our customers have told us that running their reporting environment on a traditional row base database turns every reporting cycle into a scavenger hunt or a game of hide and seek. Those games may be fun for kids, but there is nothing fun about having to chase down the information you need to keep your business on track, and then having to pay extra to do it. With Sybase IQ 15, game time is over. Sybase IQ 5 delivers dramatically faster, more consistently accurate reporting to all of your users, from all your information, on your terms. With more than 1500 customers and more than 3000 implementations worldwide, Sybase IQ is already well ahead of the pack when it comes to delivering reporting capability and the widest possible range of industry settings. Now, with Sybase IQ 15, the best just got better, delivering a comprehensive set of benefits to empower your business including:
Flexibility to grow your reporting environment in a way that makes sense to your business. If you need to add users or add storage or add computing power, you make the changes you need, you set the terms.
