  • SupraRuiz/ddd1600 - insider trading distorts financial markets and can ultimately undermine confidence. So it's not a City perk, it's a crime. It's also not "victimless" as the Guinness directors tried to claim years ago. However it's very hard to prove "beyond reasonable doubt" that someone did it under UK law, which is why too many people still get away with it.

  • I for one am a Buffett-style investor. Let the Gordon Gekkos of the world make their tricky buck. Long term investors don't mind because the company's real value will be realized given enough time.
