Call of Duty: Black Ops (PC) - My Patience Has Limits

I've only been able to endure the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops for approximately 45 minutes. Here's about 15 minutes worth of why.

You are lucky u just have lag, My PC crashes once i join the game =( sucks. BTW at this time they fixed the lag, just restart game or steam. But it doesn't work for my crash problem

@evgheniiCP If you're referring to the recent patch, it had little effect for me. Some of the severe freezing ceased, sure, but the stutter is still persistent - and it continues to make the process of aiming impossible.

@TekishYT try disabling speakers or just unplug them for a day, i guarantee you it will be smooth and no stuttering, trust me, do it and you'll see a great improvement, only thing you will have to play with no audio in the game, lol, but atleast smooth as silk, believe me, try it... please reply when you did so:)

@marfg12345 I tried that a while back. It had no effect on the performance for me. I have also tried every other tweak possible, including all of what's been suggested on the internet thus far (short of downgrading to XP, because that's just dumb). The game is just broken and needs a patch that actually fixes things.

@Mattyrules95 I hear you man. I've tried everything including cvar edits, affinity changes, killing the cloud, killing Steam, driver updates, and lowest detail settings - none of it works. The game is, unfortunately, horrendously optimized and it requires a patch.

my computer can run crysis 2 on max settings but cant run black ops even on minimum settings :S

mine hiccups alot too. gets irritating. can't aim for shit with constant stuttering. i have a good gpu though.. just a terribly ported game

im a fps player .. my fav games are battlefiled and cod games.. there was a time i used to like cod as much as i liked bf but since after cod4 i feel cod is not for pc anymore.. every new cod game is worse than last one on pc.. i will give the cod one more try with MW3 but that will be my last chance to give them.. shame on activision, they should stop making it for pc or just do it properly and should learn from EA/Dice ..

Hey mate, don't worry. It's not your connection or system.

Most people have no clue about this, but the fault is on Treyarch's side. They implemented a routine in the game which should adapt to host advantages etc, which results in a constant frame lag. But this makes the game literally unplayable.

Especially in situations where the game calculates hitbox collisions etc. the game stutters like crazy. I find it highly ironic how the most selling game has worse code than Super Mario.

I FUCKING hate Black Ops ... know it's just not because i'm unskilled, but i can't play thx to Freezes, lags and connections issues; i've tried everything i can imagine but i have given up now -.-

aw man this sucks... at least i can play normally but i get random freezes midgame and sometimes a ctrl-alt delete fix it, but usually i have to end the process..... more annoying since i had a crossmap tomahawk first blood and i cant watch it because its not recorded as i technically didnt finish the game due to freeze shutdown >.>

Im getting the bad stuttering as well :(

aiming on multiplayer is litterally impossible because the sights jump around instead of moving with the mouse.
