Why 108? What is the significance behind that specific number? Also, some people say that chanting mantras can be dangerous because it is not known to what entity the mantra is being chanted and exactlly what the mantra translates to, so even though it may help at first, it may turn negative later as it may be a call upon a negative entity. How much truth is in that?

i've always felt specific intentions were a lower form of prayer. valid perhaps, but not as helpful as a full surrendering and appreciation for all that is, as it is.

Dr. Acharya, Is the maha mantra or Hare Krsna mantra recommended for everyone or just for initiated disciples who are following the regulations mentioned in Bhagavad-Gita??

I chant Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya and makes me peaceful. But the problem is I'm probably worshipping Krsna indirectly, am I not??
