Those split jumps. Exquisite. If a ladie's skater comes along with her lines, grace, style and Yuna Kim's jumps and solid competitive fire I'll die happy. I thought Cohen was THE ONE but her inconsistencies killed it for me one too many times.

ballet on ice, just so unique and expressive

@marieked She turned pro too early or didn't think she had it in her to train for years and years.
-
@HattieLovesCattie because she turned "pro" at the age of 10 (or around that age). She did the John Curry shows.

Just as beautiful on ice as she was in 6 weeks!!

@HattieLovesCattie She never got the 2 Axel, which was a must, even back then, in the US ladies competition. In fact, now I think of it, I don't think I've seen her do a 2Lz, either. Also, while she is beautiful, she was not able to "skate" the way ISU would like you to skate--with speed and power. She could hop, and she could glide, but she couldn't really "skate." I absolutely loved every one of her performances, though.

I wonder what she never skated at the US Nationals?

one word 'FLAWLESS'

Wow! Yes, she is amazing & these are perfect positions! Sasha Cohen's Nutcracker skate is very lovely too!
I wish MORE skaters could skate like this. I remember one time Dick Buttons said that he wished skaters could take out the jumps--like go from tripples to doubles, just so he could see a clean program. Nowadays, they even reward you more if you go for a quad & you fall, than if you do a clean tripple program.
I think what's lost in skating today, is the lines. All the jumps, we don't always need them. & I'd like to see better executed spins. Which you NEVER see these days! Thanks for the post
