Hi there, I wasn't expecting to get too many messages after region auditions were over *grin*, but if you'd still like some personal suggestions, feel free to message me. All n all, try to relax mentally as well as physically. In an audition where there are many strong players, your concentration level is extremely important. What also helps me is to stay in a positive mindset. I literally have to shoo away negative thoughts. I hope that helps & best of luck!

You sound great and make it look so easy! Hope I can play that well in the next few highschool years :)

With my other comment.. When I'm double tonguing those spots my sound sounds muffled.. And idk how to fix it

Having plenty of air leading up to it is the 1st thing I check for with extreme high notes. Other factors can be the aperture getting too small &/or or rolling in even the slightest bit. It could be 1 or a combination of these, so check them 1 by 1, especially in a mirror, to figure out the source.
Hi, Rachel (Ms. Lopez),
First off, you sound amazing. I envy your sound. :)
Second, I advanced to Area here in Pflugerville/Austin, and I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions and get a few tips on the music for my area audition next Saturday. Please let me know. I'm extremely nervous and I feel like I can't get any better.
Thank you!

So. I advanced to the area level and I'm trying to speed it up for the tryouts.. But I can't get the double tonguing spots to sound good. I keep getting like tongue tied or whatever. Any advice?

@lms3683
It may be the tongue position, &/or the tongue syllable itself. I mentioned it to another person on here, but lighten up the tongue syllable as much as possible so you get a diguh-diguh-diguh-diguh-dah feel with those 2 bars.

I find it easier to play it on the piccolo other then the flute. Which is easier for you? Flute seems harder to me now even though I started off on flute. Idk why though I guess its because I used piccolo so much?

I think it highly depends which one you're used to playing it on. If you played the etudes pretty equally on both, I think anyone would find certain spots that are easier/harder on flute vs. piccolo. For sure, the high parts on piccolo aren't as easy to me ;-) But then some of the mid-range sections on piccolo feel easier to me.
