2007. 6m03s. Arabic with English Subtitles.
In March 2007, I and Mohamed Bakhit, a freelance film maker from Sudan, trained ten field staff of projects supported by KariaNet on how to use digital video to create visual content. Specifically, over a five day period in Alexandria, Egypt, we helped the participants (who came from throughout the Middle East/North African region) learn how to script, shoot, edit, and share visual documentation of their projects using the medium of digital video. Using participatory methodologies, simple MiniDV cameras, ordinary laptops, and software freely and already available with the Windows XP and Vista operating systems, the participants created their own 5-10 minute pieces. Most of the participants had no prior experience with the medium.
