The tale of a system crazier than the people it serves. It illustrates that sometimes systems and societal processes promote unwellness, and are, in a sense, themselves unwell..

Miriam Barr is an Auckland-based poet, performer and Like Minds, Like Mine mental health promoter with a Master of Arts in psychology and lived experience of mental unwellness and recovery. She runs Engage Aotearoa where she works to combine service-user and scientific perspectives of mental health towards connecting people and communities with recovery tools. She also tutors a creative writing class at Toi Ora Live Art Trust, helps coordinate reTHiNK and Poetry Live, is a member of The Literati and produces Side Stream.

"Bureau-crazy" was written and performed for the 2010 reTHiNK Theatre Challenge "M.A.D. ...it's a matter of degree" and produced by Titirangi Theatre and Dramatrain

Filmed by Morningside Productions

reTHiNK is run by Mind and Body Consultants as part of the Like Minds, Like Mine programme to reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.
