  • Thank you, NBC. Treat MLS like you treat the NHL and we'll get along well.

  • @ChampCarforlife Is this confirmed? I know NBC, through Telemundo, broadcasts Mexican Primera Division. Would be nice to see NBC broadcast some games in English. With the growing popularity of CONCACAF Champions League and US National team players playing in Mexico, I notice more and more interest in Mexico's Primera Division by non-hispanics.

Would be nice to see NBC get a deal with CONCACAF's Gold Cup and Champions league because Fox sucks; gracias a dios, hay Univision y yo se hablar espanol.

  • Watch this space, people! Grant Wahl and John Ourand have passed word that FIFA is going to open up bidding for the US rights to show the World Cups in 2018 and 2022 on October 19. Bidders are said to include Comcast, Disney and Newscorp, as well as Univision for the Spanish-language rights (Comcast, through Telemundo, also is expected to bid).

Going by Jon Miller's words, they may think that they have a good shot at winning. Anything to break the ESPN monopoly is OK with me. :-)

  • @ShadowOfAckbar That's been the story of non-Spanish speaking American fans for forever. I read of ESPN doing this (I watched it all on Univision). As a Spanish speaker, it has been a plus for me to follow futbol on the Spanish language channels ( I prefer the more exciting commentating too). At the same time, I feel the frustration in there not being an outreach to the broader American English speaking fans. It's changing slowly and this NBC deal, I hope, is a step in the right direction.

  • @ultmatDUD You are right. The problem with Fox was how unfair they were in promoting the different leagues they broadcasted. I understand EPL and UEFA Champions League made them the most money but they totally show no love to MLS.

If NBC prioritizes MLS, it would be the best. They already broadcast FMF Primera through Telemundo in spanish, but I think a couple games in English featuring teams like Pachuca, Puebla, and CD Tijuana which feature Americans would be cool to see.

    I hope they get CCL.

  • @zava55 i would say o take it slow first start up with MLS and then show more leagues.. but the concachampions arent a bad idea

  • @zava55 i know, i had to watch the first part of that game on univision, and i dont even speak spanish.

  • @ShadowOfAckbar As bad as that was, ESPN missed 20 minutes of the US Mexico friendly because they did not want to end a game that was going into extra innings for a qualifier for that Kid's "World series".

  • @zava55 I have no freakin' clue. they show little league baseball over Barcelona vs Chivas?!?! thats retarded. NBC might just pressure espn to care a little bit more about soccer.

  • What's NBC sports? is it the regular nbc?

  • @zava55

It's not yet confirmed that the Mexican Primera Division but it could happen soon.
