Sounds like he's defensive about his food -- some cats, not just kittens, are like this, and the noises basically mean: "This is MY food, and if you move an inch closer, I'm gonna slice and dice your face!"

They all do this when they are young. I raised two; a boy and a girl, and they were both little piggies. How CUTE. It makes me want to go and get another little bengal kitty. Thanks for sharing.
