Introduction and closing credits for an episode of Hot Dog, which premiered on Saturday mornings in 1970.
Hosted by Woody Allen, Jo Anne Worley, and Jonathan Winters, Hot Dog was a show about "stuff." Each episode featured short films on how certain things (baseballs, bowling balls, and of course, hot dog buns) were made.
The show originally appeared as an a special as part of the Saturday morning series, The American Rainbow, and originally featured Tommy Smothers instead of Jonathan Winters.
I was 8 and remember the show well. The theme music came back to me as if it were yesterday.

I loved Hot Dog! I was only six when it first aired. I likely haven't heard the theme music in nearly 40 years, and yet it still instantly brought back warm nostalgic feelings for me when I just now heard it again. The show was intriguing and engaging, and just plain fun! It seems the Food Network's show Unwrapped is the logical descendant of Hot Dog, but, unlike the sedate Unwrapped, Hot Dog was whimsical. Someone out there, please upload some whole episodes, in good condition, please.

I was surprised to see Frank Buxton credited as creator/producer/director. I knew him for a little while in the 80's (we were in an improv troupe in L.A.). His prior connection to Woody Allen was Allen's "What's Up, Tiger Lilly?", for which Buxton provided some of the dubbed voices. Nice guy.

I've never seen this a day in my life. I must have been too busy watching Mr. Dressup on CBC.

Unbelievable! I play by ear, and I used to play the "Hot Dog" theme song on my little chord organ. I can still remember the tune, but the show is such a faint memory... So I thought I would TEST You Tube, not really expecting any results. Wow! If it was 1970, I was 8.
BTW: Joanna Cameron (Isis) posed for Playboy!
