  • This woman....this woman!

  • One aspect that wasn't mentioned that yes she was kicked in the head but in the play the mother is very protective of Clara, she babys her and doesn't ever treat her the age that she is. So Clara could also just be naive. So in the play it leaves the audience to wonder if getting kicked by the horse really did that much damage or it the mother was the one who created a lot of it herself. Its never really answered but i think the point is people can love each other past their differences.

  • can't stop watching. FIERCE BITCH

  • not enough words to describe how fantastic this song is

  • @gmr2broadway I completely hear Samuel Barber! Especially in the "Hysteria" scene in Act one.

  • @SingSwing17 Wait -- I wrote "her fiance's husband" twice. I meant to say "her fiance's father" both times. Sorry.

  • @har9020 thanks!

  • this is one of my favorite shows!

  • Her fiance's husband just called off the wedding rather abruptly and Clara thinks it her fault, that there is something wrong with her. Her fiance's husband noticed something she scribbled on her marriage license application and it freaked him out.

  • umm im just watching this for the first and i dont really know this musical- can someone tell me what just happened before this?

  • But also, Guettel's harmonic language is much larger - he has a bigger vocabulary - than many other writers. They may have it, but perhaps they just don't use it as much as he does in his music.

Interesting interview with Guettel on the new music box (dot org)
