This is the only time where I have seen Simon talking in depth about that incredibly frightening time in his life. I'm sure it changed him in some very profound ways. I am such a fan of the band and am so happy they have reunited. Long live Duran Duran!

What a voice for poetry! So soothing and captivating. Would be good at narrating or theatre.

Watching this I'm reminded why the man had such an impact on me back then, when I first watched this. It's classic Simon. Bless him.
Anyone out there (forgive me) who knows what I mean will also understand the idea that there were some of us who viewed this man and his band as a sort of religion. It went beyond simple Duranie-ism..Simon's word, in particular for me, were gospel. And I agree with you caclasch. God bless the internet.

Wow, can Simon read poetry or what?! He makes me melt!! I remember this happening and became intensely enthralled with yachting afterward. I'm so thankful that he and the rest of the crew were rescued.
Being a huge Simon fan from a million years ago, I remember when this was first aired. I remember it, because I missed it when it aired. My mom told me she saw Simon on t.v. reciting the "I must go down to the seas again" poem. Of course she couldn't remember anything else about it, let alone the name of the show. Oh well, I thought, I'll never know what that was about.... But here it is! God bless the internet. And thanks so much for sharing!
