Ramble about why I like Nightmare On Elm Street 2 better than 1

As a side note, I'm not arguing that ELM STREET 2 is a great movie. I don't think ANY entry in the series is a great movie. There are great moments and ideas WITHIN most of them, but not one of them holds together for me overall. I'm sorry, they just don't. I was always more of a HELLRAISER guy.

As a further side note, despite my support of ELM STREET 2, a lot of the same thematic issues were handled even better in the underrated BRAINSCAN. Very sly and clever film, despite Edward Furlong.

Yes, the person might still be dreaming, but that's cheating since the film treats it like reality. "It was all a dream" didn't work with Patrick Duffy, doesn't work here.

This was before Dream Warriors brought Nancy back so, yes, we are to believe, just at this specific point in the continuity, that Freddy got Nancy in the end.

And no, there wouldn't be a 2 without a 1. What's your point? Does that mean I automatically have to prefer the 1st over the 2nd? Where's that rule?

I never thought I'd see a compelling argument proving this not only one of the better ELM STREET films, let alone better than the first, but all I can say is bravo. I don't agree that its better than the first (or for me personally some of the other sequels) though I do like it a bit more than most do. It definitely has some strengths going for it (Particularly as you said Englund's performance) and does mostly get beat down for the homo-eroticism. You really do put up a good argument here.

first off freddy didnt get nancy in the end.second did u ever stop and think tht whn they pull freddy out of the dream,the person might still be dreaming.third being able to invade dreams is a real violation of the person.plus if it wasnt for the first nightmare u wouldnt have had a part 2.
