Its awesome. You can see this in Scorses later films such as Goodfellas when the couple is found dead in the Cadillac and the scene where Ray Liota and Lorraine Bracco enter the club through the back entrance.
@duckman531 There's a lot of Italian influence there, unsurprisingly perhaps - and Fellini's 8 and a Half is paid direct homage at the end...
