Time began with the Bang so therefore using your logic that means that all the matter of the Universe has always existed as it is outside time. So God is not required as there was no need for Him to create anything!

@SonofJaphet All Europeans were racist in those days. Even HG Wells the great Humanist writer and intellectual 50 years later had some racist views. They believed that the greater the civilisation (based on their own standard) the greater the intellectual bearing of the race. But there is evidence Darwin showed compassion to indiginous populations he met on his travels.

@SonofJaphet Thomas Malthus was basically an economist and knew nothing of Natural History or Natural Selection. It was Darwin who realised that the argument of "survival of the fittest" was a form of Natural Selection that explained how evolution works. About 20 years later Alfred Wallace independently worked out pretty much the same thing and unfortunately Darwin had not completed his book on the subject. So both men got equal credit but the book made Darwin famous later.
