This is a quick review of my new Ademco Honeywell L5000PK Wireless Home Security system. While shopping for this item, I literally found no video reviews of this item and its interface. I figured this would be helpful to those of you like me who would like to know how the system performed prior to purchasing. Feel free to post questions in the comment area. So far I rate this system 5 out of 5.

  • @akss- Thanks for the input. I would like to add the voice dialer in the near future.

  • The screen saver is always on by default. I haven't looked into shutting it off.

  • Sorry for the late response, the screen looks very good from above too. The viewing angle is quite wide

  • @spearmintmonkey- They will toggle back and forth. If it is in "Instant" mode, it will show the tab "Delay" so you can switch back. When it is in "Delay" it will show "Instant" so you can return.

  • @stuzor666- Yes, Total Connect is a subscription service. I believe they start around $30 per month. Check out the IPBAT, it is compatible with Lynx systems and has an app for remote control via smart phone for self monitoring. There fee starts at $5.95

@spearmintmonkey- simply by tapping the "instant" tab on the bottle left corner of the home screen.

  • Honeywell offers the ILP5 internet module that is compatible with this unit but requires a monitoring service. At the moment, I do not think the module can be used for self monitoring.

  • @punksrfr any alarm can be self monitored, you just need to add a voice dialer into the system.

  • Thanks for the video. look at securitysystemconnect. com for all you security needs.

  • @punksrfr Yes, the backlight has a 30 second timer you can set so it will go out.

  • Is the display always on even with the screen savers or will it go blank after a while if you have the screen savers off?

  • Just ordered this to replace my Lynx Plus 3000.

How well does the display look if you are a little above it and not looking at it straight on? My keypad is mounted lower then eye level and this was something I was just wondering.

    Thanks.
