To Live and Learn (1960) Part 2

'This is a film about London schools and London children'. It is not identified with any one school, but shows the work of infant, junior and secondary schools in London. Through the stories of two pupils, Jennifer James and Bob Southwood, the film looks at how these children are encouraged to excel in school and reach their potential.
The film shows children in classes and at play in schools around London. Some of the schools shown are: Malory School, Bromley; Honor Oak School; Eliot School, Putney; Fairlawn Primary School, Lewisham. The film shows old style schools and new secondary modern schools. The music is provided by the London Secondary Schools' Orchestra. The film shows the development of children's personalities as well as teaching methods and shows the wide variety of opportunities in London's secondary schools, including the new comprehensive and technical schools.
