Each student enrolling in a new Mini-MBA: Digital Marketing Executive Certificate Program launched at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, this summer received an iPad, but it's not intended to be a shiny, new toy offered as a gift just for participating. Rather, the iPads were an integral part of the 12-session program, customized with Apple's help to provide a new dimension to executive education in a field being fueled by technology.
"The Digital Marketing Mini-MBA is a perfect course to pilot since it is designed for marketers who have an interest in learning and exploring the latest digital technologies, and for technical managers seeking to expand their role in marketing," said Eric Greenberg, a CMD faculty member and coordinator of the digital marketing mini-MBA.
Module topics included digital marketing strategy, social media marketing, real time research and response, mobile marketing, online PR; digital brand management, understanding the new digital consumer, measurement and "ROI" (return on investment) of digital marketing, digital innovation models and digital transformation.

Where do they think the energy to power this technology will come from when coal, oil, natural gas run out in 3 years? Business & marketing majors are not mentally capable of thinking and acting that far ahead in life. Let's see them go vegan, which should be mandatory by law for the sake of the animals, anyway. Let's see them support mandatory reductions in human reproduction. Let's see them make actual positive changes.
Instead, this scum puts all its energy into denying global warming.

Business and marketing majors and CEOs have contributed absolutely NOTHING to society and civilization. That is because they have never done a day of work in their lives. The WORKERS work. Those who are underpaid, making minimum wage (or less) are the ones whom the CEOs, business & marketing majors, bankers owe.
Anyone who votes for Democrats or Republicans - the two biggest terrorist groups on earth - is a traitor to America and deserves death.

Where do these no-brain business & marketing majors think the energy to power all this technology will come from? You cannot even get these idiots to use a reusable SHOPPING bag at the supermarket! That is how near-sighted and inflexible they are.
Obviously, their behavior is a symptom of never having been forced to do anything hard, logical, or creative. All business & marketing majors can do is spout rightwing conservative ultra-free-market ideology.

Business majors are morons, selfish, anti-American terrorists. Business & marketing majors give absolutely ZERO thought to the consequences of their actions. They demand big government come in and bail them out and prosecute petty crimes against THEIR corporations, but NEVER prosecute financial terrorism by corporations & banks, even though corporate crimes are a billion times more devastating that the non-existent harms caused by heroic groups like Greenpeace, PETA, or wikileaks.

I recently graduated from Business School with a Marketing degree and my education was almost entirely traditional. If you want to get a good job these days you have to be able to save your employer some money and have value to the company in more ways than one. That is why I am actively pursuing my continued education options. This program seems perfect for me, however, I do not know how I could afford it. If anyone could sponsor me I'd wear your website/company's shirt during the whole course

@MumboJumboDaily I love your comments; although, I don't agree with them. It's funny, I'm doing business development for an internet start up and I took Rutgers Mini-MBA course in digital marketing. You can often speed up your learning curve by attending a class rather than through trial and error on the job. Moreover, failure may be a good teacher; however, it's not a lot of fun. The course was actually fantastic! The iPad was only a small part of it. The content was excellent!

Further, it is important to consider the fact that your consumers are using this technologic to their purchasing decisions. It would be wise to consider learning the ins and outs of devices such as the Android, iPad, iPhone, etc, when revamping your strategic plan.

I couldn't disagree more with the comments below. The iPad is merely an educational tool that provides instant connection at your fingertips. It's not only green and paperless but it's is a step above your smart phones. It may seem at first that this course is all about the iPad but if you delve further you would see that this is essential knowledge for any business professional that is looking to stay at the forefront of their industry.

I taught the Online PR Strategies and Social Media Marketing modules of this new Digital Market course at Rutgers -- and it took me some time to adjust to teaching with the iPad. But I can't wait to use it again -- especially now that Flipboard is available. Flipboard is "the world's first social magazine." It's a fast, beautiful way to flip through news, photos and updates your friends are sharing on Facebook and Twitter. It's the killer app for the iPad just like PageMaker was for the Mac.

LoL "Digital Marketing" ahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.
This is a phony degree in buzzwords. You'd get better experience and education from trying to build a startup with real digital skills and subsequently trying to get that funded by angel investors at Ycombinator or similar organization.
Attend these classes if you want to hear iPad iPad iPad over and over. Everything else you need to know about marketing is contained in Mad Men's Carousel scene.
