My problem with this video is that there is no way to verify what he's actually saying. Any person could give a different translation and they may be right.. or they may be nefariously wrong. How do I know for sure?

The same problem exists every time the media reports on anything he or any non-english speaking leader speaks. So you can consider several things. Persian speakers (the language of Iran) have analyzed Ahmadienejad's speeches and have said he never called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" That this is a lie

They will not deliberately fabricate statements, but Mike Wallace and CBS deliberately fabricated your perception of what Ahmadinjed said by omitting his discussion of democracy and inserting inflammatory remarks designed to make Ahmadinjad look unreasonable. If there is a country that is endangering another countries existence, that country is Israel and not Iran. Additionally, Israel has shown it will slaughter innocents without hesitation.
