  • Well done Paul! I would add that an essential tool to add is an axe file (file towards the blade). A good axe file can really shave some metal efficiently for re-profiling, getting nicks out, and changing blade angle as your skills or intent for the particular axe changes. I am liking more of a bevel than a robust convex these days. The file will create a burr, and I finish with my really good quality axe stone that I bought from you. The DC-4 in the field is also a great little re-toucher.

    Hi~Yes good point. I guess I didn't include it because I would only use a file (as you say) for re-profiling, not sharpening. They are too course for sharpening, but great if you bust the edge up....
