Try playing Swagga by Excision and Datsik. Before the drop there's a huge bass rise and drop that POUNDS!

Hey Barevids, i'm building a t-line subwoofer box for my home theater and i was wondering does the one you built for this vid produce better bass then a t-line like your 10" t-line you did? i am looking for the best bass i can get?

Ur neighbours must love you

@barevids PCM encoding (basically a .wav file being sent via coax or optic). PL2 is the way the receiver handles the PCM audio from your PC. Windows encodes all audio (unless its multichannel) to PCM, which is losses quality. The receiver then decides, based on settings, if it needs to use PL2 which gives surround sound effect with multiple speakers, or use other audio modes, including 2 channel audio only.

@barevids I'm hands on and I use Win7/dualboot with Ubuntu. Anyways, you can modify W7 to be much more hands on.
Are you using a dedicated soundcard in the PC? I'd better hope so! I've been forced to downgrade to onboard lately and the difference is night and day with my bookshelfs and sub. Would give a tremendous improvement if it already sounds good with onboard!

@stephendt no - ill explain why. Firstly, the onboard soundcard is amazing, it was a very expensive mobo, better than some external or PCIs. Built the PC myself! Secondly, all that the soundcard is actually doing is giving out a digital optical signal, and then my sony receiver does all the decoding and all the work. The soundcard doesnt really do much in this setup. :)

@barevids Ah yes, good to hear. Digital does sound quite good without investing in a sound card. I could tell you built the PC yourself, I build and repair computers for a living and I can tell that case isn't a standard Dell! Haha. Amazed you haven't upgraded to Windows 7 yet though, check out Windows 7 Media Center and you will be amazed on how well it works as a home theater solution.

@stephendt the only experience ive had of 7 has been awful for me.. i feel the OS tries to hide too much and does too much for you. Im a very hands on guy, i like to be in control of the pc not the other way around, done some heavy reg and hex dump stuff in the past, XP just seems to open up much easier than 7. Also, the specs of this PC make XP amazingly fast, i fear that putting a more complex OS would sacrifice some of that speed. Though my girls dell laptop with 7 is pretty quick..
