I see (uh, I mean hear) that they kept some of the original music. That was one of my favorite piece from the game.

That's why I said "possible".
Anyway, the latest news I heard was, that Dyack said, that Silicon Knights really like the game and that "the future is bright" for a sequel. But they couldn't say anything else, of course.
That was in August 2009.
I wonder what Silicon Knights is working on, right now.

Is there ANY way for someone (me :) ) to get their hands on this??? I mean, E.D. was probably one of the greatest game to ever come out, in the whole range of consoles, and I would love to play its beta!

Yeah, with a 64MB cartridge and Ram Pak, N64 can do that.
