From November 2002, here is some footage from Morning Baton Rouge, the sole news program produced by NBC affiliate WVLA at the time. All copyrights acknowledged. The program aired in the 1990s until January 2005, usually before The Today Show. This particular newscast features Pamela Henkel Matassa, who started on the station in the late 1990s and was there until around 2003 (she is now at LSU), and Mike Rhodes, who had previously been a sportscaster for ABC affiliate WBRZ. Among the stories/footage/bloopers present include: discussion of Southern University's marching band in the Battle of the Bands, Ernest Fountain book review discussion about discrimination, other community events happening, at 6:03, discussion (as read straight from the local Baton Rouge paper, "The Advocate,") about the escape of a convicted killer in Assumption Parish, discussion about the 2003 governor's election (Rhodes asked Matassa about the governor's office, which she knew little about)—this was before Jindal and Blanco entered the race, Rhodes talking about children wanting expensive gifts, a trivia question about Eddie Robinson (8:40, first attempt, the phone didn't work, and they tried fixing it on air), 10:28, return from break with more success with trivia, 12:22, Rhodes talking about throwing the football with his son, 12:50—CashCall (a game played during the news)—they tried calling a person, first had to redial due to long distance, and the number was unavailable, ends with talking about a turkey injector prize giveaway. Rather interesting newscast, was as aired. Not sure about news theme, but it does sound like "News Matrix" by Stephen Arnold Music. The logo scheme was used by WVLA from 2002 until early 2007, when it changed when the station brought back primetime newscasts.
