The South London Jazz Orchestra performing at Lambeth Country Show, July 2008 on a sunny, windy Summer Sunday in Brockwell Park.

We talked to Bob Bridges -- conductor & presenter of the SLJO and he agreed that we film the orchestra for YouTube.

We discovered that the SLJO are a community based group in South London, and that there are no auditions or other restrictions to joining.
So you just go along with your instrument and get on with making music.

Congratulations to the SLJO on your excellent performance in the park yesterday, and all the best for the future.
You all looked like you were enjoying yourself.

The video itself is a one shot take, without edits or correction, recorded on a hand-held Panasonic NV-GS300.

  • Hello Clare !

    What a great moment !

    EVe

  • Yes, it was lovely Eve:)

  • Performing for the love of performing really makes for a more enjoyable music experience.

  • You are absolutely spot on there.

  • Sometimes bands that just allow people to sit in and are more informal ...kick it more..and have more freedom and fun!

    Thanks...

  • Thanks Dominic, you are welcome. Now tell me what time you are in the video, I've heard of a tenor sax but unless one jumped up and bit me I wouldn't recognise one (O Hagan)

    Wyllie probably knows:)
