Academic Panel COI/ Kyle Diorio pt. 2/3

The Celebration of Inquiry Conference continues to provide the opportunity for the entire campus community and external community to share their insights and successes as well as to introduce their concerns and challenges through undergraduate research presentations, panel discussions, demonstrations, lectures, exhibits, poster sessions, creative expression and forum.

TITLE: UnBurdened Through UnBordering: Building Inter/Cross Cultural Communities

Presenters: Kyle Diorio and Dr. Deb Walker

OBJECTIVE: The panel will be discussing their experiences preparing for their trips abroad and the impact of their stay abroad before, during and after their experience. The panel will also be discussing the personal risks taken for their respective trips and and how they have been rewarded socially, academically and personally. The session fits the conference theme \"Meeting the Challenges of Our Times\" because the members of the panel have all taken personal and economic risks to step out of their comfort zones to expose themselves to a more global environment. Their awareness of the benefits of studying abroad both socially and academically have helped the members of the panel to be more responsible and mature in their decisions to pursue their goals. The presenters will be speaking about the different phases of studying abroad such as the preparation phase, spectator phase, adaptation phase etc. The presenters will also be sharing personal stories of their experiences including their responsibilities during their stay and the rewards they have acquired upon their return.
