Pollster John Zogby discusses Barack Obama and the impact of race on the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.

-----

As we enter the final months before the historic 2008 presidential election, how has the American character and our attitude towards politics and foreign policy changed?

According to pollster John Zogby, the conventional wisdom about Americans -- that we're isolated from the world, politically fragmented, and inclined toward material pleasure -- isn't just flawed, it may be 180 degrees from the truth.

Drawing on thousands of in-depth surveys, he reveals a new and developing American character, including the emergence of the most globally oriented generation in our history.

Join the Council for a conversation with John Zogby as he helps us to understand where we are headed politically, culturally and globally, as well as how this new direction is shaping the politics behind both presidential campaigns - World Affairs Council of Northern California

John Zogby is President and Chief Executive Officer of Zogby International, a leading public opinion and market research firm. Mr. Zogby routinely conducts polls on health care reform and global health efforts. Among his accomplishments, he is widely recognized for correctly predicting the cliffhanger result of the 2000 presidential election for George W. Bush, in contrast to most other pollsters who had projected that Bush would win easily. Mr. Zogby established his firm in 1984 and since then has been tracking public opinion in North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Europe. He has written guest editorials for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among other major newspapers, and he is the author of a forthcoming portrait of the new American consumer, which will be published by Random House this fall. Mr. Zogby holds degrees in history from Le Moyne College and Syracuse University.

  • 100% of blacks voted for a white man in 2004.

  • Hey Dix, you are going to vote for 4 more years of we have right now. What happened to all the jobs? And where are these small businesses going to get their consumers when people less fortunate cant buy their products? I am retired, paid taxes all my life, and now McCain is out there insulting Middle America by saying Obama is going to give us "welfare" or socialsim. Just not true. McCain will keep my taxes, give it to the rich and increase my insurance premiums. Good job, McCain!

  • No that is incorrect with your opinion. 95% of blacks voted against the Republican party and what it stood for under George W. Bush. Don't try this reverse racism stuff because there is no evidence that it exists. Blacks tend to vote 90% Democrat anyway. 91% blacks voted for John Kerry, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis and guess what? They were all white men, so stop with the black racism cry and study historical voting trends of African Americans.

  • Well yeah, 98% of black people voted for Obama, Most likely because he was black.

And yes, I consider that racism.

  • if Hillary got a sex change and ran as a woman, they would really have something !

  • sseriously if these rich people are so rich why arnt you investing in it????

  • why don't you send them half your paycheck every week?<<

I do invest half my earnings in thier companies. In fact all these so called rich people is who the ceo?

  • racism has nothing to do with it. Socialism does. I would have voted for Alan Keyes.

  • to bad the baby doesnt have a choice in hes life, but im sure if he did he would want to live and if the father wants the baby to live..thats 2 to one...majority over rule bitch......79% of abortions the father wants the child to live and an unprovoked war? i guess you dont remeber 9/11....

  • Obama=3 years in the Senate

    McCain=25 years

Obama= Voted against an unprovoked war

McCain= Voted for an unprovoked war

Obama=Supports a womens right to choose

McCain= Do not support a womans right even if affects her health

Obama=Have the support of Ted Kennedy, Warren Buffet, Colin Powel, Tom Bernstein and union workers.

  • McCain=Voted against the civil right bill, MKL holiday, laws against bombing clinics, equal pay for women and he was endorsed by John Hagee

Obama will roll taxes back to what they were under Bill Clinton

McCain will keep Bush policies in place

Biden is ready to be president

    Palin is not.

90% of the African vote always goes to the democratic nominee because the RNC does not believe in diversity or unification.

  • SUM PPL JSUT DONT GET IT. thank God u do
