"Matt Dillahunty is the president of the Atheist Community of Austin, and host of the popular public access television and internet show "The Atheist Experience." He was raised as a fundamentalist Baptist, and was on track to become a minister until he started asking questions about the reasons for his belief. He rejected religion, and now serves as a public voice for rationality and secular morality. - The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • Two minutes in and I already have a headache from the mumbo-jumbo and fallacies. Nice try, father.

  • Claiming that, if an atheist is true to his premises, the only thing that would exist to them is matter is wrong. For instance, some may believe in the separation between the brain and the mind, but still not believe in god(s). Some people may even believe in a soul or an afterlife. Saying that no god(s) exist is not equivalent to saying that all that exists is matter. If nothing else, energy still exists, so he's just wrong anyway, without having to get into weird philosophical stuff.

  • Santa is keeping a list and checking it twice. The big guy up there is watching you 24/7 and you will be rewarded accordingly. Even little kids understand this. How can years or education and experience alter these fundamental beliefs? Oh yeah, knowledge and wisdom kicks ass on bullshit. btw, ever notice that the words Santa and Satan are very similar? Just sayin'.

  • Wow. This isn't the first debate where I heard the xtian apologetic said they weren't going to talk about the xtian god & instead focus on theism, but then in the next point bring up their myths from the bible. Until Moses came down with the 10 commandments, people just had NOOO idea killing was wrong. *rolls eyes*

  • @Romavenn They do, they just give their time to the ones that are being the most vocal and drawing attention to themselves and getting media attention. Alot of these debates take place in America and obviously Christianity is the one making most splashes there. The main 'representatives' of atheism like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens have done a number of debates over Islamic faith, and Catholicism as that's big in the UK.

  • @cantosprofanae in america at least

  • Note, the Christian is nasty and insulting out of the gate.

And did that dishonest scumbag really say that "atheism can only exist in a Christian society"?

US is not a Christian society which is what the dishonest turd is implying. There have been times Christians haven't been safe in Christian society. The Quaker persecutions case in point.

Then he goes to a deist argument. Seen others distancing themselves from their religion when debating Hichens. Game over when you change faiths on stage.

  • @Romavenn because most other religions are not bothering people, and are not interfearing with everyones lives like christianity.

  • Why don't atheists debate with other religions other then Christianity?

  • I honestly can not watch this without getting a headache.

  • That is dumbest statement Ive ever heard...."Atheism would not exist in a Christian society".....He hasnt heard of other religions? The one thing that should be mentioned is that "morals" must have existed in primitive times in order for early humans to survive. For eg. you need people to stop killing each other in order for small clans to grow and defend against wild beasts. You also need "Morals" to cooperate in sharing food. All these morals existed way before the bible was ever written.

  • @titans091052 I could not agree more
